We Are Not Convinced With the Promises Because It Is Just a Word Of Mouth - Affected Students
Following the crisis that rocked The Ibarapa Polytechnic in Eruwa, Oyo State now Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa. Where some Affected Higher National Diploma (HND) students who the school failed to accredit their courses neither mobilise for compulsory one year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) two years after graduation shut down the school gate some weeks ago which resulted to the indefinite suspension that is 'Accumulated Annual Level' of at least four top management of the institution. The Governing Council Chairman of the institution Dr. Samuel Ogundiran meets with the affected students, assuring them of the solution to their problem.
Dr. Ogundiran in his address to the students on Friday afternoon at the Central Administrative Building of the institution says that almost a billion naira has been giving to the institution by the Oyo State government in pursuit of the accreditation of unaccredited courses and for mobilisation to a mandatory one year NYSC programme. He also adds that a specialist engineer has been invited to take the quotation of what all the Engineering departments would need for a successful accreditation and which he has done and submitted to him.
The doctor presents two solutions before the students, one is how the students will be able to further their education in the university level and two is about accreditation and mobilisation but the latter is quite acceptable and mostly the concern of everybody since he has earlier said there is a fund for the accreditation exercise.
He also makes it known that he will be travelling to Kaduna state next week Wednesday to meet the polytechnic accreditation body, National Board of Technical Education (NBTE) concerning the accreditation.
"Oyo State government has really given all their totality to this matter by supporting with such a huge to speedily process the accreditation. We shall not fail you this time around but we just want the students to bear with us in a jiffy.
According to him We are on top of the situation and we are assuring everyone that this issue shall be solved in the space of three months since we have no excuse.
Dr. Peter from University of Ibadan enlightens the students on the first solution the Chairman of the Governing Council presents by saying that this
The Acting Rector of the institution, Dr Peter Adejumo while speaking at the meeting pointed out that the Chairman of the Governing Council together with his team has mandated and given the management a certain time and date to meet up with the needs of the affected students, adding that the Oyo State government has already given the school fund to accredit some unaccredited courses and mobilised the affected students for their NYSC.
However, he urges the students to give the new management little time so that the matter can be resolved.
Also speaking at the meeting was the National Senate President of Federation of Oyo State Student Union (FOSSU), comrade Wasiu Oke, also known as 'Pattern', says that the students at juncture are not happy, adding that the students are not concerned over the suspension of anybody but their concern is that issue is resolved without any further delay.
"I want to urge the Governing Council Chairman and the school Management to do their best to meet up with the request of the students and as well recommend that there should always (or would have been) be a round table dialogue between the school Management and students, this would have saved the school from all the mess they find themselves today."
The chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in Oyo State, comrade Asubiojo Olujuwon also known as 'Marshall', shares his view with the journalist after the meeting says that the association has taken their time to read meaning to every word said in the meeting and put it on record.
"NANS will hold on to every iota of what the Chairman of the Governing Council has said 'that they should be giving two or three months to fix the issue'.
At this time the school should put in their best for the success of the accreditation because two years cannot be recovered and it was not yesterday. It is purely a waste of time of life of these students."
Meanwhile, one of the affected students, Oluwadare Kayode who talks on behalf of the students said that the promise made by the Governing Council Chairman and the management is just a word of mouth because there is no evidence.
This is how the suspended Management deceived us for closely two years.
He quoted " Seeing something once is better than hearing about it a thousand times".
"There is no fact to show for all the Governing Council Chairman and the Management have asseverated in the meeting. We are not convinced with all what they have said because We have heard this times without number. It is just a word of mouth and there is no concrete evidence to affirm it".
He, therefore, urges the mates to be patient and give the Governing Council Chairman and the Management a benefit of doubt,

We hope for June mobilisation.
