Accreditation: The Affected Ex-Students of The Ibarapa Polytechnic, Eruwa Dialogue With The Management

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is image.pngThe 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 graduates of The Ibarapa Polytechnic, Eruwa, of about twenty five of them, today on the campus meet with the management of the school to express their grievances about the unaccredited courses which has prevented them from undertaking National Youth Service Corp program(NYSC).
They marched quitely to the main administrative building where they yelled out that "we want to see the rector". although, without placards.
The shout was 'enough is enough'. It's been two years we graduated as a full-time student while another set of people are shouting a year is going now but nothing has been done by the management of the school concerning the accreditation not to talk of NYSC mobilisation.
Few minutes after the interruption, one the officer in the building appears to curb shouts but they won't listen to him not until he asked for what they really wanted. One of the affected students said "we want to see the rector".
The rector and the registrar of the school descended from up to attend to the ex, the man that first answered them requested the students to choose a spokesman among themselves since "barbarians talk in thousand" he quoted.
The spokesman, Kayode Alex known as Kay stepped forward and expressed the purpose of their coming which is basically centred on the accreditation and NYSC programme. He said it's been almost two years now and the management has kept silent over the matter of accreditation and NYSC mobilisation. he said that their coming is to know the status of the accreditation and what the management is really doing over this handicap matter that befell the school almost three years now.
The rector said that the management is not relent on this ugly issue at all. It is a regret for the school inability to meet up with your demand in time.
He made it known to them the major problem the school is facing today is due to no fund to finance the minimum equipment NBTE demand the school must meet before the board can come for proper accreditation.
Right now, the school is need of half of a billion naira(500,000000) to actually meet up with the minimum demand. The registrar asked if the ex can get some who can help the school with fund.
According to our interview with some respondents, one said life has not been easy since he graduated September 2017 from the school, he said he has missed many job opportunity due to lack NYSC certificate.
Another respondent said he lost a job, which he had passed two phases of the interviews but was disqualified at the third phase when the organisation demanded for his NYSC certificate which he could not tender.
A lady from Office Technology and Management(OTM) whose department is also one the affected departments, graduated 2018 said that she could not bear the pressure her parents mount on her almost everyday at home. She also said she is tired of everything since the school management is not assuring or giving them certainty if the accreditation would be done before the next mobilisation June 2019.
